  • What is 'OA'?

    Open Access Logo

    • Open-access (OA) literature is digital, online, free of charge, and free of most copyright and licensing restrictions.
    • OA is compatible with copyright, peer review, revenue (even profit), print, preservation, prestige, quality, career-advancement, indexing, and other features and supportive services associated with conventional scholarly literature.
    • Many OA initiatives focus on publicly-funded research.
    • OA literature is not free to produce or publish.
    • OA is compatible with peer review, and all the major OA initiatives for scientific and scholarly literature insist on its importance.

Submit your paper to BioMed Central (BMC)

BioMed Central and SpringerOpen provide a membership program for institutions to support researchers who publish in our journals. The membership is designed to provide billing support for article-processing charges while allowing institutions to effectively manage their open access output.

From November 2017, BioMed Central prepayment scheme gives TMUL a 15% discount on eligible fees. When submitting a manuscript, either via a journal home page, you will be identified as belonging to a member institute and automatically granted an article processing charge waiver if you are within TMU’s firewall. If you are at home or at an external terminal when submitting your paper, you can still claim a waiver by stating to TMUL.
