TMUL Users

 

Upon presentation of appropriate identification, access to the Taipei Medical University Library is available to:

 

TMU, TMU Hospital, WanFang Hospital, and Shuang Ho Hospital faculty, registered students, staff, and other holders of the Taipei Medical University ID card.

TMU DiLib Consortium(DiLib) participants.

Non-TMUL Users
 

While the primary purpose of the TMU Library is to serve the academic and research needs of the faculty, students and staff of the University, persons not currently members of the TMU community may also use the library’s collections and facilities.
For non-TMUL users, there are following the allotted number of visits (10) everyday. They can change ID card at Circulating Desk on the 2nd floor.

 
 

My Account

 

My Account contains information about materials you have checked out, overdue items, and the status of any hold or recall requests you have placed. You can renew materials within 7 days of their due date. Click on the link below for access to your records.

 

Borrowing

 
1. TMU, TMU Hospital, WanFang Hospital, and Shuang Ho Hospital faculty, staff and students can use university ID card or library borrower card to borrow books from the library.
2.

The patron must apply for a library borrower card in person.

3.

Some materials cannot be checked out such as: reference materials, periodicals, newspapers, and some audiovisual material.

4. If a library card has been lost or stolen, or any information needs to be updated (ie name, address), please notify the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor of the library.
Renew
 
1. You may renew checked out books as long as they have not been requested by other patrons.
2.

You may renew the books at the library in person, by phone, or through the library catalog.

 
3.

You can renew materials within 7 days of their due date..

Reserves

 

You can reserve checked out materials through the library catalog and an email will notify you when the item is available for pick up. Recalled items must be returned immediately if needed for course reserves or within 7 days of the recall notice, if needed for another borrower. When it is returned, the item will be put on hold. If more than one person has recalled an item, requests will be handled sequentially.

 

Overdue Items & Notices

 

Overdue notices will be mailed to the patrons email address. Overdue notices are a courtesy. Failure to receive such notice will not be considered grounds for reduction or cancellation of fines. The late fee is NT$5 per item per day.
Late fees for books and leisure series can be paid at the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor. Late fees for leisure AV materials can be paid at the Multimedia Desk on the 4th floor.

Introduction

The Multimedia Center of Taipei Medical University Library is intended to be used for educational purposes and the legitimate business of the University in a manner consistent with the public trust.

The Multimedia Center and E-learning Lab is funded primarily from student computing fees and is only for the use of TMU students, faculty, staff and library members.

There are 25 multimedia cabins, including 12 digital TVs, 14 multimedia computers and 5 stereos with seats in the Multimedia Center. And there are 37 computers in the E-learning Lab.

The Multimedia Center has a collection of videocassettes, DVDs, records (discs), compact discs (CDs), etc… All Multimedia Center items, with the exception of curriculum materials, are shelved on open shelves behind the digital TV desks for patrons to borrow. Curriculum materials are kept in closed shelves. Patrons will have to consult the service desk if you wish to borrow this material.

Multimedia Collection materials circulate for 3 days with a NT$5 per day fine for overdue titles. 3 titles is the maximum number to borrow per time. Recalls, holds, and renewals are not offered.

The Borrowing Procedure for DVDs

 
a

Use the WebPAC to find out the DVD you want to borrow and write down it’s barcode, ex: AV005007. If it’s location is「4th open stacks」, you can directly use the barcode to find it on the open stacks.

Then take the DVD to the service desk, and present the University ID card. The assistant librarian will help you borrow the material.

If the DVD’s location is「4th multimedia stack」, you need to consult with the service desk.

3 The Use of Facilities in the Multimedia Center and E-learning Lab
 
a

Individuals using the facilities in the Multimedia Center, like digital TV, DVD player, and computers in the e-learning lab will be asked to verify their University status by showing a University ID or by logging into computer systems.

b

Choose a seat number and use your TMU ID card to book the seat at the service desk.

c

The facilities in the Multimedia Center are only for use with materials from the TMUL.

d

Inappropriate uses include interfering with the work of others, wasting resources, using the resource for private economic purposes, gambling, and any activities that involve the violation of state or federal laws and University policies and procedures.  During peak times when computer workstations are in demand, recreational use such as playing games may be disallowed.

Maintaining an Academic Environment

Users are expected to respect the rights of other users to create an environment suitable to academic pursuits. The following activities are prohibited.

 
a

Activities that disrupt the work of others, including but not limited to unnecessary noise.

b

Activities that encroach on others' legitimate expectations of privacy.

Users are expected to behave in ways that enhance the environment for others and promote the reliable operation of laboratory computer systems.

 
a

Eating or drinking in the labs is prohibited.

b

Users must cooperate with the staff of the computing facility and behave in a respectful manner to them.

c

Users must not abuse laboratory computer systems or other equipment.

d Users must not make or use illegal copies of copyrighted or patented materials,
  information, or software, or to store such copies on University systems, or to transmit such information and software over University Networks.
