Introduction of the TMUL
The Taipei Medical University
Library (TMUL) was established in 1962. It was located in Mu-Shan
Learning Center with only 500 square meters of measurement. In
2004, it moved to the new United Medical Building with 3,300
square meters where the library collection contains 180,000
volumes of books and bound journals; in addition to circulation
services, TMUL also provides high quality information services
such as library orientation, library instruction, reference
service, inter-library loan, and selective dissemination of
information (SDI)¡Ketc. Over these years, two new branches were
opened in Wan-Fang Hospital (since 1997) and Shuang-Ho Hospital
(since 2008), with 360 square meters each. The TMUL¡¦s
award-wining reputation is branding and spreading out.
In supports of education and
research, TMUL collaborates information literacy sessions with
students¡¦ own major subjects; holds many activities and
contests; carries more than 10 copies of newspapers and 230
titles of magazines everyday; furthermore, runs varies of
regular subject/best-selling books exhibitions and fine art
exhibitions whole year round. TMUL encourage users to take a
good use of the library and expect this environment to be the
No. 1 library facility among others to assure the users will
enjoy themselves while they are spending time here.
Located in Xin-Yi District, the
heartland of downtown Taipei, TMUL stimulates itself to the best
quality service of medical research and education. It develops
plenty of academic electronic resources, and continuously
improves the quality and quantity of services to fulfill all the
demands from our users. Right now, we are subscribing around
12,000 titles of e-Journals, 5,000 e-Books, and 100 titles of
e-Databases. All of the electronic resource could be accessed by
the Electronic Resources Management system from the webpage of
our library. With establishment of the ¡§Digital library¡¨, all
TMU users could use the electronic resources via internet
wherever they are, and whenever they want.
